In this tutorial I figured I’d cover how to modify, edit and remove modules especially since at first I didn’t know how to edit the top categories navigation bar only to find out later that this is actually done via a module.
In reality, nearly all customization in PrestaShop is done via a module. In the video below I show you how to customize the top navigation bar, footer, homepage, menus and other sections of your PrestaShop store.

Why disabling a module isn’t always recommended:
Many people don’t realize this (I didn’t at first), but there is more to modules than simply enabling and disabling them. For example, if you’d like to only show a module on certain pages or if you’d like to display a module only from certain sections of your site, you are better off modifying via positions. Below I explain how this is done.
Unhooking modules:
To remove a module from certain sections of your store, simply go to your admin panel and click “modules” and “positions” in the left column. Then simply locate the section that you’d like to remove your module from and click on the arrow next to the edit button and click on “unhook”.
Transplanting modules:
When you transplant a module, you are basically adding a module to a section in your store. To transplant a module, simply go to your admin panel and click “modules” and “positions” in the left column and then click on “transplant a module” at the top of the page.
Using the drop down menu next to “module”, simply select the module that you’d like to add.
Using the drop down menu next to “hook into”, select the section of your store that you like to add the module to.
If you’d like to exclude the module from certain pages of your store, simply enter those pages in the exceptions input box by selecting those pages using the select menu beneath the input box.
Click the “save” button for the changes to take effect.
Changing the position of modules:
To change the position of a module, simply go to your admin panel and click on “modules” and “positions” in the left column and then locate the module that you’d like to reposition and drag it to that new position or click the arrows to move the module up or down.
Now if you’d like to completely remove a module from you store, you’d then want to disable them — read more on this below.
Disabling modules:
To completely disable a module, simply go to your admin panel and click on “modules” and “modules” in the left column. Locate the module that you’d like to disable and click on the “disable” button. If the disable button isn’t showing, simply click on the arrow next to the “configure” button and select disable.
Keep in mind that the module is removed from all pages in your store when you disable.
To enable a module, simply follow the steps below.
Enabling modules:
To enable a module simply go to your admin panel and click on “modules” and “modules” in the left column. Locate the module that you’d like to enable and click on the “enable” button. If the module isn’t installed, you’ll want to install it by clicking on the “install” button.
